One street, two spellings
Khaosan Road and Khao San Road are the same street in Banglamphu, inside Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district. The road is the city's best-known backpacker strip: guesthouses, travel desks, street food, bars, and shops aimed at people passing through.
It is busy, especially after dark, and it is not the whole of old Bangkok. The Grand Palace, Sanam Luang, and the national museum sit further into the historic district. Use Khaosan for food, supplies, and the evening atmosphere, then walk or ride out to the temples.
How far it is from the hostel
Marni BKK Hostel publishes Khaosan Road at 500 m. The hostel is on Soi Worapong, off Wisutkasat Road, in Ban Phan Thom — a neighborhood walk, not a trip across the city. The location page lists that figure with the other distances.
For a stay built around this street, see hostel near Khaosan Road. Room options are on the rooms page.

Practical notes
Evenings draw more foot traffic and music than weekday mornings, which are easier for errands. Keep an eye on your bag in the crowd. If you land before check-in at 2:00 PM, the hostel offers luggage storage so you can go out without your pack.
The front desk is open 24 hours and can help with local directions. Facilities include free Wi-Fi, lockers, a shared kitchen, and a lounge.
